Modern Man; or, The Postmodern Prometheus
The earliest archaeological finds of our species, Homo Sapiens, are thought to be around 200.000 years old. There is not much biological difference between that person and yourself. However, your everyday life is nearly incomparable due to the many societal revolutions and mutations that have occurred since then.
The latest of these revolutions could be called the digital revolution. Person carries the worlds knowledge in his pocket, If my knowledge is lacking I only have to ask Google. The life of the contemporary person does not only occur in their own body, but more and more it occurs in virtual reality. Social media like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram seek to connect people globally in all sorts of ways.
The exhibition takes concepts and ideas from art history, concepts that originated as an answer to social changes of their own time throughout history, whether it be cubism or cartoons I combine them in my work.

The subjects for the paintings were found by inserting the search terms #ad and #sponsored into Instagram’s discover feed. The subjects are all participating in paid advertisements for the companies that are tagged in the pictures.
